Compare Permission Sets and Handle Differences¶
Compare Permission Sets
For any IFS Cloud Administrator or Developer, there is a requirement to compare Permission Sets to determine the permission sets that contain similar grants and those with different ones.
This will be very helpful to compare duplicated IFS Managed permission sets after a release update to identify the differences.
Compare Permission Sets Assistant can be used directly or by using the commands in the Permission Set and Permission Sets pages. The Compare with Original command is there for quick comparisons for duplicated Permission Sets.
To compare permission sets, you need to assign a Source Permission Set and a Target Permission Set where the differences in the Target is compared against the Source.
Permission Sets can be swapped between Source and Target using the Swap Inputs command.
Once you press the Next command, the comparison between Source and Target Permission Sets will start, and the results based on the Source Permission Set will be displayed.
If there are no differences, a message will be displayed as shown below.
If there are differences, the results will be displayed separately for each permission set section as shown below.
Additional - The grant is there available in the source, but not in the target permission set
Missing - The grant is not there available in the source, but in the target permission set.
Replace or Merge Permission Sets
After comparing, if there are differences, you have the option to replace or merge the permission sets or close the assistant.
If you choose to press Replace, the Source Permission Set will be replaced with the grants in the Target Permission Set. The after-replace comparison will always show a no difference message.
If you choose to press Merge, the missing grants will be copied from Target to Source. The after-comparison will always show only the additional grants left after the merge.
